ANACS 1916 buffalo nickel 2 coin mated pair set of split planchet after strike nickels. The coin split in half after strike, with the two halves fitting together to form a single coin. A neat mated pair set of early date buffalo nickels!

 

The error occurred when impurities in the planchet caused it to split in half after it was struck.
