PCGS 1922 peace dollar struck thru rope reverse. The coin shows 4 "strands" of the rope which stick out in all direction, with the thick, core part of the rope visible from 2 o'clock toward the center of the coin. There are little hairs from the rope visible all around much of the strike thru.
The error occurred when the frayed end of a piece of rope came between the die and the planchet, and was struck into it, with the thick, core section vision and then the 4 strands protruding. This is the only example we've seen on a silver dollar this large! Very rare to find an error like this on a peace dollar.
AU50 with light wear and a good amount of luster present for the grade.
