PCGS 1922-S Peace dollar broadstruck, with the coin struck largely out of collar, and so it expanded well beyond its proper diameter. The coin shows almost no reeding on the edge, and has a large expansion with a particularly large spread of the coin positioned in front of Ms.Liberty.
The error occurred when a planchet was fed into the press, but the collar was jammed below the surfaces of the anvil die. When the coin was struck, it expanded in size well beyond its normal diameter, since the collar die was almost entirely missing (leaving only some traces of reeding.)
A rare error type on peace dollars, with only about 10 or so likely known for the peace dollar series. Almost all examples known are 1922-S or 1921 dated. Tough to find for sale!
