PCGS 1943-S Jefferson wartime nickel struck on a steel 1c planchet. The coin is struck on a steel cent planchet, and so is the weight of a steel cent at around 2.8 grams, and is smaller in diameter to a normal nickel, with portions of the outer letters and design missing. One of the few years in which nickels are found struck on a steel planchet.

Generally scarce, with perhaps 40 or so known. They are a more popular year, being both struck on the 1 year only 1943 steel cent planchet, and also on the short lived "wartime" nickel, which was only used from 1942-1945 (with the large mintmark on the reverse, and the silver alloy planchet.)

MS62 with luster across much of the surfaces. Some random spots or specks, as is typical.
