PCGS 1976-D Washington Bicentennial quarter struck on a cent planchet. The coin is struck on the much smaller, copper planchet of a Lincoln cent, with the result that much of the outer lettering is missing, and also the coin is copper instead of clad. A generally scarce error type. Probably 30-40 or so known for this date of quarter on cent planchet.

The error occurred when a cent planchet was fed into a press that was striking quarters and was struck, with the result being this coin--the design of a quarter, but the planchet of a cent.

MS63 Brown with nice luster under the brown toning. A few minor spots. Many of these have pre-strike damage, unlike this example!
