PCGS (1982-2008) Lincoln cent ede strike, with the coin having a strike on the coin's edge. There is a portion what appears to be Lincoln's coat on the one side.
Edge strikes occur when a planchet is fed into the striking chamber while "spinning" vertically on its edge. When the dies come together to strike the coin, it will strike the coin's edge, and typiclaly bend the coin slightly, causing it to "shoot out" from between the dies. The result is a coin with just a strike on its edge. A very scarce error type.
PCGS Lincoln Memorial strike edge strike. The coin was struck on the planchet's edge, with some design elements visible in the strike on the edge.
A scarce error type.
