NGC (1982-2024) copper-plated zinc Lincoln cent proof type-2 planchet. The 2.5 gram copper plated zinc 1c planchet is proof, with mirrored fields and the burnished, proof appearance. The planchet should have been struck into a proof Lincoln cent, but instead escaped unstruck from either the Mint or the place of manufacture of the planchet.
Although Lincoln cent planchets for business strike coins are very common, proof examples are on the opposite extreme, being very rare. This small group of 7 examples are the only ones we have ever had in stock!
The buyer will receive 1 example from among the 7 NGC examples we have. All are nearly identical, with virtually full red surfaces, and just a hint of toning.
