NGC 1998-P Washington quarter struck on a Jefferson nickel planchet, with a weight of a nickel at around 5 grams. The coin is smaller than a normal quarter, with portions of the outer design missing. Also, it is struck on the solid copper/nickel planchet of a nickel 5c coin.

The error occurred when a nickel planchet was fed into a press that was striking Washington quarters, and was overstruck with the quarter dies, resulting in a "wrong planchet error" quarter struck on a nickel planchet.

NGC MS66 lustrous. A high grade example. Light gold, and with great eye-appeal!
