Mint Error Market Report

Mint Error Market Report

Posted by Jon Sullivan on Oct 23rd 2024

Hopefully everyone has been having a wonderful October, and have made some time to pull out their error coin collections and spend some time enjoying them! There is nothing like actually getting your coins out and looking and them individually, and perhaps chatting about them with a fellow numismatist.

We have been busy processing a few collections and various other coins we have purchased, many of which have been showing up on our website lately as they have come back from being graded. There were a lot of really nice double-strikes, off-metals, and many other error types, and they are all being processed as quickly as possible and listed.

Many times when fresh mint errors from a larger collection come to market, they can make it appear that a particular error is "common." Most of the time, this is not actually the case, and in fact when the collection is absorbed into the market, reality sinks in that they were actually scarce and the opportunity to buy has passed. If you see anything you are particularly excited about in our inventory, it's a good idea to consider buying it before some other collector does!

Our next coin show is in mid-November, when we will be attending the Baltimore coin show. If you are able to make it, we look forward to seeing you there! The fall Baltimore show is typically busy and an overall excellent coin show to attend.
