PCGS 1943 steel cent struck through a late stage die cap. The die cap strike or "capped die strike", occurred when a coin adhered to the obverse die, and then struck the incoming planchets. This coin was struck by that die cap, creating the die cap strike with much of the design missing or difficult to see.
A popular year for mint errors, as a one year only metal for the wheat cent series.
AU58 with mostly white surfaces, and just some minor spots.
