PCGS 1971 Eisenhower dollar obverse missing clad layer. The coin is copper on the obverse due to the clad layer missing on that side. Additionally, it weighs 18.9 grams, which reflects the weight of the missing outer clad layer.

A very scarce error type on Ike dollars, and only a small number of them are known. The large size of the coin, and the obvious nature of the error gives it good eye-appeal.

Clad layers can separate if they do not bond properly during the planchet strip bonding process, with the result being missing clad layers.

MS63 with red/brown surfaces, and some minor spots reverse.
