PCGS 1973-D Jefferson nickel struck on a cent planchet. The coin is and off-metal since it is copper, and is smaller than a normal nickel, since it is struck on the 3.1 gram planchet of a cent. 

The error occurs when a cent planchet is fed into a press that is striking nickels and is struck into a coin with the design of a nickel, but with the planchet of a cent. 

MS63 Red/Brown with pleasing, red/brown surfaces a hint of golden toning. Exceptionally pleasing surfaces.
