NGC 1975-D Lincoln cent struck on a defective clad dime planchet. The coin is the weight and metal of a clad Roosevelt dime, and weighs 2.3 grams. It has pre-strike damage on the planchet, with a number of scratches underneath the strike on the coin's reverse, and to a much less degree on the obverse.

The error occurred when a dime planchet was fed into a cent press and was struck, resulting in an off-metal, with the design of a Lincoln cent, but struck on the clad planchet that was intended for a Roosevelt dime.
