ICG 1977 Washington quarter struck on a nickel planchet. The coin is struck on a nickel planchet that was intended for striking into a Jefferson nickel. The off-metal planchet error occurred when a a nickel planchet was fed into a press striking quarters, and when struck resulted in a coin with the design of a quarter but the planchet of a nickel.
