ANACS 1980-P Jefferson nickel struck on a Lincoln cent planchet. The coin has the design of a Jefferson nickel, but is struck on the copper alloy planchet of a Lincoln cent. It is the weight of a cent planchet at around 3.1 grams, and is dramatic in appearance because of the difference in the coin's metal color (copper instead of nickel.) A popular off-metal combo!

This error type occurs when a cent planchet is fed into a press that is striking nickels, and when it is struck, the nickel design is struck on the cent's planchet, resulting in an off-metal nickel on cent.
