PCGS 1997 Lincoln cent struck on a dime planchet. The coin is struck on a planchet which is clad, and was intended for striking into a Roosevelt dime. It is slightly smaller than a normal cent, and is the weight and metal of a dime.

The error occurred when a dime planchet was accidentally fed into a press and struck, resulting in a coin with the design of a cent, but with the planchet of a dime. This can happen when a dime planchet is left in a tote bin used to transport different denominations of planchets to the coining presses. If the bin is not entirely emptied of dime planchets, and then is used for cent planchets, and is fed into a press that is striking cents, and off-metal could result.

MS66 lustrous with just a hint of toning, and nearly full white.
