Struck thru a piece of planchet which was sliced off this coin's planchet and struck on top of it. Doubtless this occurred when the planchet was being fed into the striking chamber, with the sliced off area being at 5 o'clock on the rim of the obverse, and struck into the field at the 3 o'clock area of the obverse. Scarce and unusual!
PCGS (1959-1982) Lincoln cent struck on a small 0.63 gram fragment of cent planchet. The fragment is rough and an oval shape. Nice eye-appeal.
Note: The coin is "reverse side up" in the PCGS...
