The ANA World Fair of Money, held this year in Oklahoma City, OK, was a good show. Coming into it, many dealers and collectors said they “would not go” or that it would be “terrible”, because of the somewhat difficult location (few direct flights, smaller city, etc), but being the summer ANA, we were optimistic—and it turned out to be a good coin show. Sales were brisk, and purchases were also good. Admittedly, both sales and purchases were less than a typical ANA at a larger, more accessible major city. A few regular customers were not in attendance, and also fewer dealers than normal. But, this location would make a good mid-winter ANA in the future, and we look forward to going again if the ANA goes back in the future.

Many regular coin dealers (non error dealers), said they had good shows, and at least a few said they had their best show ever! That speaks to the strength of the coin market when a less than perfect location coin show results in a good or “best ever” show!  Sales were about 25% less than a typical summer ANA, and purchases were probably about 50% of a normal summer ANA. However, considering the location, this was still good!

The coins purchased at the show will be listed in the coming weeks on the website, and also many will go off to be certified (and then show up on the website in a few months when they get back in.) 

Our next show is the Nashville IMEX coin show, which is held at the Music City Convention Center in downtown Nashville, TN. It’s a new show, with this being only the 2nd time it has been held. If you are able to attend, we look forward to seeing you there!
