NGC (1948-1963) Franklin half struck 45% off-center on a quarter planchet. The off-metal occurred when a quarter planchet was fed into a press that was striking Franklin halves, and was struck off-center.

It is smaller in size than a normal half, and as an off-center it is superb, showing a nearly equal portion of planchet and design, giving it excellent eye-appeal. Doubtless, because the quarter planchet is smaller than a half dollar, the feeder fingers had difficulty correctly placing the planchet into the collar to be struck (which is why it was struck off-center.)

A very rare error type, with only 6 known, including this example. All but 2 examples are undated.

NGC AU58 with a hint of wear and golden brown toning. The surfaces are original, adding to the coin's appeal.
