This cancelled proof $5 die was used as the reverse for the 1996-W proof $5 gold coins for the commemoratives for the Atlanta olympic games. The $5 die is cancelled with an X shape, and was retired after having been used to strike a portion of the mintage of the coins. The die comes with the plastic cap that covers the die’s design.
