PCGS 1999-D Delaware state quarter with a corner clip, and with a weight of only 3.9 grams (normal is 5.6 grams.) Corner clips are the rarest clip type, with very few known. This is the first year of the state quarter series, and is unique or one of perhaps 2 known for the state.

There are outside corner clips (what this coin is) and inside corner clips, with the inside type being slightly scarcer. There are probably less than a dozen examples known of corner clips of either type for the state quarter series.

The error likely occurred when the corner end of a sheet of planchet strip was fed into a blanking press and was punched out directly over the corner. The blank was then struck into this coin.

PCGS Genuine AU details with some scuffy-scratches. Some old, dried grease on the reverse at 2 o'clock (which is likely from a feeder finger), which is common on errors.
