The Central States annual coin convention held in Schaumburg IL, is a large coin show, consisting of perhaps 500 tables. In the last 6  years or so, it has become, in our opinion, a very good coin show, and one of the top 3 or so on our list every year to attend. This year’s show was perhaps the best Central States show we have attended, with a lot of activity both in terms of buying and selling. Other coin dealers were having a very good show as well, with reports of sales being very active, and finding quality inventory being the biggest problem. Buyers were walking the show floor through our final day on Friday, and we stayed busy buying and selling till the close of the show each day. 

A number of customers stopped by, which is always one of the pleasures of attending coin shows. The Chicago area is home to a lot of coin collectors, and it close enough to other major population centers that it brings in collectors and dealers from the surrounding areas.

Although we purchased a decent amount of inventory, we sold so much at the show that we really could’ve used 10 times as much as we ended up bringing home from the show! Still, new purchases will be coming to the website in the coming weeks, and also as they get back from being certified. It’s a hot market, so if you see a coin you like our advice is to jump on it.
