NGC 1876 1 mark struck through a 20 pfennig planchet on its obverse. The planchet strike thru measures 16 mm. The error occurred when a 20 pfennig planchet was laying on top of this coin when it was struck, creating an indent. The 20 pfennig fell away after strike. 

 

A very rare error type to find on 19th century coins, and one of the older examples of a struck through smaller planchet we have seen.

 

MS63 with pleasing, lustrous surfaces that have original brown toning.
