PCGS 1986 silver eagle struck tru an emory sanding disc. The Emory discs are usually 3M, which is likely what this one was struck thru as well. The emory discs were used to texture the dies so that planchets would not stick to them. They were sometimes struck into and retained in the silver eagles (only a very few known), and alternately, struck thru and the disc and coin separated.

This coin is very scarce as a struck thru sanding disc, and is actually much scarcer than the ASE's struck on the sanding disc itself, with only a very small number (perhaps 6-10) known of this type.

PCGS MS64 with lustrous surfaces and multi color spots of toning obverse and reverse. Nice eye-appeal!
